Launch Your GPU Developer Career at Stream HPC

GPU programming is one of the most in-demand and hardest-to-learn skills in software development. GPUs have solved complex problems for our customers for years, and with GPU architectures evolving faster than ever, skilled GPU developers are only going to become more valuable.

The bottleneck is clear: there are very few places to actually learn GPU programming properly:

  • Universities
  • Research centres
  • GPU vendors (AMD, Nvidia, Intel, Qualcomm, ARM)
  • Self-study

That is far from enough. Only a small group ever gets to learn the craft inside a professional environment. Stream HPC wants to change that with a structured, paid GPU developer training programme based in Amsterdam.

Our GPU Developer Training Programme

Starting in January, we are taking on 4 to 8 developers for an intensive internal training programme focused on GPU programming. The first month covers modern GPU architectures, CUDA, and OpenCL through a mix of lectures, workshops, paper reading, discussions, and hands-on coding. The months that follow are structured around guided learning, code reviews, paper presentations, and self-study, tailored to each person.

This is a real job with real training, not a bootcamp or a course.

What We Are Looking For

Hard requirements:

  • EU citizen or in possession of a valid working permit
  • Strong C/C++ skills
  • High interest in algorithmic optimisation and performance
  • Willing to relocate to Amsterdam
  • Willing to commit to Stream HPC for at least 2 years

Good to have:

  • Experience with Assembly or performance-focused development
  • Any GPU experience: OpenGL, DirectX, personal or academic projects
  • Familiarity with CUDA or OpenCL

The Selection Process

Technical skills matter, but so does cultural fit. A large part of our selection comes down to what we call “the spark”: the drive and curiosity that make someone a great GPU developer over the long term.

The process starts with a 20-minute introductory conversation about what we each care about. This can happen by phone, Skype, or in person, and we are flexible on timing: evenings, weekends, and lunch breaks all work.
